john Verified Buyer –
The clouds finally parted and I had the chance to put the Quark through a few tests. For the record I use it with a Skywatcher ED100 and Moonlite focuser on an AVX mount.
The Quark is a solid, well built piece of equipment. So solid and I had to rebalance the mount.
First, visually, the image was stunning even with my bad eyes.
The one large prominence today was clear and bright.
Most of what I do is astrophotography and I suspected the hazy sun wouldn’t cooperation to let me get a few test images but I was very surprised how good first light turned. My ED100 is side-by-side mounted with my Coronado 60DS which I can now leave setup strictly for the disk. May even pickup another ASi120MM so I can have both cameras mounted on their respective OTAs and not have to do any swapping.
Newton’s Rings are of course an issue with a digital camera. My current tilter works OK for the Coronado but they are quite prominent using the Quark. I never liked the tilter I have so I’ll be looking into a better one but to be fair, I didn’t even try to adjust it (too many clouds and a turbulent atmosphere).
Overall, I enthusiastically recommend the Quark.
