Due to the primary mirror cell and focuser being connected with one adjustable plate, in some instances some users find that collimation introduces an ever-so-slight amount of tilt into the imaging train. While for most applications this is not a noticeable amount, for those looking to build an imaging system with the absolute maximum amount of performance you need a tilt adapter! This adapter from Apertura is designed to mount in front of the focuser on the Apertura CarbonStar 6″, CarbonStar 8″, and other popular M90 compatible scopes, allowing you to dial in the entire imaging train and not just the camera — ensuring that all components are properly aligned.

Confident, Easy, Adjustability
This tilt adapter features 3 push-pull adjustment points to hone your imaging train. Simply loosen the large black screws with a 3mm hex wrench (not included), adjust your system, and then snug down the silver set screws with a 2mm hex wrench (not included) to lock your system in place. These adjustment points are located on a large collar that makes adjusting your system much easier than smaller integrated equipment plates, and with three spring supports adjustments feel much smoother too!

Spend more time refining your system, not researching, with out-of-the-box Apertura 6″ and 8″ CarbonStar RC compatibility! Simply follow the dedicated builds included in your CarbonStar RC’s digital manual to quickly and easily set your system up for the most popular imaging equipment. While this can work with any M90 threaded focuser, it works easiest with CarbonStar!

I purchased one of these for use on an Askar 120APO to keep at a 54mm imaging circle from the camera to the scope. If you don’t have one of these, you can’t quite get to the right backfocus in some situations – you wind up a mm or two too long.
ANYWAY, do the math on your backfocus – in some cases this is exactly what you need. And if so,
it works great. It’s solid with no flex and easy to adjust, and the length is easily readable as you adjust.
It’s unfortunate it’s so darn expensive, but in some cases it’s what you need!
