With space for eight filters, this ZWO filter wheel is capable of holding a full set of LRGB, SHO, or both filter pallets – plus room to spare! This allows you a large amount of flexibility by providing easy access to your filter collection on-the-fly, so you can swap in the perfect filter for a target without needing to physically go out to your rig and deal with a filter drawer or filter cell. The ZWO 8-Position Filter Wheel is also perfect for collecting data from multiple filters to create LGRB or SHO images, as a large number of imaging programs support scheduling tools that can automate filter changes – allowing you to set the order at the start of an imaging session and then walk away!

The ZWO EFW 8 X 1.25″ Electronic Filter Wheel is designed to easily rotate from one filter to another on demand. The EFW body is CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminum and is super sturdy. The included carousel accepts 1.25″ threaded filters or 31 mm unthreaded filters that are held in place with included M2 screws. To achieve the best results, use 1.25″ threaded filters for systems with focal ratios of f/5 or slower. If you have a system that is faster than f/5, ZWO recommends using 31 mm filters to avoid vignetting, although you will get vignetting regardless if used with systems of f/2 or faster.

Easy Imaging Train Integration

Whether you’re looking to install this in a visual back setup or fully threaded optical train, the ZWO EFW 8 Position Filter Wheel for 1.25″ and 31mm Filters has you covered! Included in the box are adapters that work in combination with ZWO camera packages to install the filter wheel and your Pro cooled or uncooled camera; simply follow the system chart below to create either a 1.25″ imaging setup or a threaded train set around the industry standard backfocus. This will work with cameras designed with similar native backspacing to ZWO cameras, just note that you may need to source some of the spacers/ adapters separately.

Filter Compatability
With eight positions, this filter wheel can accept 1.25 threaded filters or 31 mm unmounted filters. Filters (not including the threads) must be less than 7 mm in thickness and threads must be less than 3mm long. The Filter Wheel can be rotated either clock- or counter-clock wise, making filter selection easier and faster.

Means of Control
Control of the filter wheel is handled via an external device connect to the USB 2.0 port on this product. To ensure wide compatibility, ZWO has ensured this is not just compatible with their popular ASIAIR systems but also the widely used ASCOM standard – allowing you to control this from a wide variety of PC software! This often allows for not just easy filter changes, but also the ability to schedule filter changes in the planning tools commonly available with these programs – opening up automation possibilities.

Included Accessories
ZWO provides several adapters and other hardware to get you up and running with your new EFW Electronic Filter Wheel. Included is a T2 nosepiece, a 1.25″ holder, a T2-T2 adapter, and a bag of filter masks and M2 screws. As for power, there is no need for multiple cables, just the one USB2.0 cable provided.
