8 nm OIII Bandpass
OIII is a one of the most prominent emissions within emission nebulae, and features a wavelength of 500 nm. Isolation of this wavelength is crucial in discerning intricate structure within these celestial objects. Offering an outstanding transmittance of 94.5%, this Chroma OIII filter allows copious amounts of OIII data through to your sensor. Pair this with the narrow bandwidth of 8 nm and be amazed by the sharp contrast seen within your images! The 1.25” size is wonderful for use with sensors featuring a diagonal less than than 31 mm, with Micro 4/3 sensors and smaller yielding the best results. The male threads on this mounted filter feature a height of 1.75 mm, while the filter cell height excluding these threads is 5.25 mm. The total filter height is 7 mm.

These coatings are applied using a technique called reactive magnetron sputtering, and offer superb resilience to humidity changes and extreme temperature fluctuations. Not only this, but these hard coatings help preserve spectral accuracy in the central wavelength (CWL). Both sides of this filter are fully coated, with anti-reflective coatings found on the rear surface to prevent image distortions and image ghosting. Chroma astronomy filters utilize 3.0 mm thick single substrates of the highest quality glass. This use of a single substrate eliminates the need for lamination, in-turn improving the filter’s overall performance and durability.
