Enhance Your 50EDPH Experience!
This 0.84x reducer from Sharpstar reducer is designed specifically to work with the 50EDPH APO refractor. Adding this reducer to your imaging train will surely enhance your 50EDPH imaging experience!
Once attached to your 50EDPH OTA, the 0.84x reducer can bring the Sharpstar 50EDPH’s focal ratio down to f/4.6 and the focal length to 230mm while providing field flattening capabilities as well. With a shorter focal ratio the OTA will have a wider field of view and faster exposure times. These features make the 50EDPH suitable for imaging fast-moving celetial objects, star clusters, and large areas of nebulae.
The Nuts and Bolts of Your Reducer
This Sharpstar 0.84x reducer has many great features that will add to your imaging setup. From the body design of the reducer to the attachment capabilities, get to know the technical aspects of the body of your reducer and how to connect it to your 50EDPH OTA!
Reducer Body Design
The 0.84x reducer utilizes a quadruplet design and comes in a CNC machined body with threaded metal dust caps to prevent dust and damage to the optics when not in use or traveling. This Sharpstar reducer supports APS-C frame cameras and the backfocus from the M48 thread is a standard 55mm. The body of the reducer only weighs in at 0.53 lb. (0.24kg). As far as the threads go: the front thread is M42x1 and the camera end thread is M48x0.75. There is also a built-in 2″ (M48x0.75) filter thread.
How to Connect Your Reducer
In order to connect your reducer to the 50EDPH refracting telescope, you will want to first remove the 1.25″ adapter from the rear of the 50EDPH by unscrewing it. Next, make sure to unscrew the dust cap from the body of the reducer and screw it onto the thread where the original adapter was attached. Make sure the reducer is securely screwed on for a seamless integration into your imaging train.
