Eliminate Coma with this Apertura Photographic Reducing Coma Corrector!
Made for the CarbonStar 150 Imaging Newtonian
The team at Apertura continues to craft high caliber products designed specifically with astrophotographers in mind, and have created the perfect companion for the state-of-the-art CarbonStar 150 Imaging Newtonian! This Apertura Photographic Coma Corrector utilizes three optical elements that work together to eradicate coma seen within your frames, and maximizes the already incredible performance of the CarbonStar 150 Imaging Newtonian. Not only this, but it doubles as a focal reducer as well! The 0.95x reduction rate brings a bit more light into your camera sensor for even better image quality.
By correcting the unfocused light as a result of parabolic mirrors, this Apertura PRCC offers beautifully crisp stars to the edges of the frame. This means no more distorted, comet-shaped stars! Enhancing your astroimages further is the improved field illumination coupled with the slight reduction in focal ratio. In addition, enjoy great versatility with the option to add a wide variety of filters and cameras to this coma corrector. Its sleek, anodized aluminum body was built to last, and adds minimal weight to your setup. Thanks to the top of the line astrophotography innovations from Apertura, this Photographic Reducing Coma Corrector is a must have for your CarbonStar 150!
Taking Your CarbonStar 150 Imaging Newtonian to the Next Level
As an essential addition to your optical train, this Photographic Reducing Coma Corrector comes equipped with elements such as superb aberration correction, increased light gathering abilities, and solid architecture, making it the prime choice for the CarbonStar 150 Imaging Newtonian. Let’s take a deeper dive into the precision craftsmanship of the Apertura PRCC below!
Triplet Optical Design for Peak Coma Correction
Coma is the presentation of unfocused, comet-like stars around the edges of the frame. This aberration is an intrinsic property of imaging Newtonians that house parabolic mirrors, and must be corrected with an external optical system. Understanding this, the team at Apertura developed the PRCC with three correcting lenses to bring stars across the entire field of view into sharp focus, even at the far edges of the frame! Doubling as a 0.95x reducer as well, the focal ratio of the CarbonStar is brought from f/4 to f/3.8, allowing you to collect up to 10% more signal in each frame. Its 28mm image circle supports APS-C sized sensors, making it the perfect match for a wide range of cameras.
Heightened Field Illumination
As standard with almost every optical system, the issue of vignetting results in signal loss around the edges of the frame and reduces overall field illumination (the percentage of total light collected). Post-process calibration flat frames help compensate for this uneven illumination, though reducing vignetting and collecting more signal while imaging is optimal. With this in mind, the Apertura Photographic Reducing Coma Corrector was engineered to help correct vignetting right from the get go, boosting the overall light gathered for the best possible astroimages! The graph to the left shows the greatly improved field illumination of a 6” f/4 Newtonian while using this Apertura PRCC.
Expert Build Quality
Comprised of anodized aluminum, premium glass, and nylon, this Apertura Photographic Reducing Coma corrector was designed with the utmost quality. The telescope side of this coma corrector features M48 threads for seamless addition of your favorite 2” mounted filters. Simply thread on the filter, the reinsert this PRCC into the CarbonStar 150! Also, M48 threads can be found on the camera side, and features an industry standard 55mm of back focal distance for effortless addition of your camera with the correct user-supplied spacers. Weighing in at only 9.3oz, a height of 81mm, and a width of 50.75mm, this compact Apertura PRCC adds very little bulk to your set up. The included 2” push on dust cover and M48 aluminum threaded dust cover protect the optics when not in use.
