Astronomik 6 nm H-Alpha Canon EOS Clip Filter

An extremely narrow emission-line filter, the Astronomik 6 nm H-Alpha EOS Clip model is suitable for use with Canon EOS DSLR Cameras as well as instruments as fast as f/3.5 for CCD astrophotography only. Not suitable for visual or solar applications. This narrowband filter allows h-alpha light from emission nebulae to be transmitted through to your sensor while, at the same time, completely suppressing the remainder of the spectrum.

For displaying maximum contrast between objects that give off h-alpha light, such as emission nebulae, and the background sky, this Astronomik H-Alpha CCD Filter with its smaller 6 nm FWHM, is optimal. While the 12 nm filter provides similar performance, the contrast gain is not as high. On the other hand, using a filter with a 6 nm FWHM can result in background stars that appear dimmed or are not visible at all. Therefore, using both the 6 nm and 12 nm H-Alpha filters together will enable maximum contrast without compromising the background quality of your final image.

Due to the Astronomik 6 nm H-Alpha EOS Clip Filter’s complete elimination of mercury (Hg) and sodium (Na) emissions lines, the main causes of light pollution, it makes a great filter for imaging in severely light-polluted areas.

Like all Astronomik filters, the EOS Clip Filter is parfocal with all other filters from Astronomik. In addition, this filter offers high resistance to impacts caused by scratching, aging, and high humidity. Comes complete with a long-lasting plastic storage case of superior quality.

Astronomik’s exclusive Clip-Filter System is designed from black anodized aluminum and laser-cut on ultra modern machines. In a matter of just seconds, it can be inserted straight into the Canon EOS camera body. No changes required and all lens operations such as focus, screen, and image stabilization, remain functional! With the exception of the EF-S series, all Canon system lenses, as well as all M42 and T2 lens adapters, are compatible with the Astronomik Clip-Filter System. This system also serves as a dust protector, preventing dust from finding its way to your sensor during long exposures.

This system also serves as an excellent dust protector, preventing it from gathering on the sensor during long exposures.
