Light Pollution No More!
Light from street lamps are effective at illuminating our atmosphere, shrouding our view and making it difficult for us to observe objects within space. By carefully crafting their optics, Optolong designed the L-Quad Enhance Filter with light pollution in mind. Actively suppressing the wavelengths from mercury and sodium street lamps allows your camera to ignore light pollution and collect signal from celestial bodies! As you can see in the graph, the wavelengths from light pollution are effectively blocked, while still allowing the wavelengths emitted from objects in space!

Designed for color cameras, the Optolong L-Quad Enhance Filter allows the rich signal from celestial bodies in, while cutting ambient light pollution out, allowing for an image that is more saturated, color balanced, and has sharper details. With more than 90% transmittance of the nebula emission lines at H-Beta, OIII, H-Alpha, and SII, the details captured through this filter are unparalleled. LOVE this filter. For reference, I live in a Bortle 5 area in a neighborhood. My current set up is an ASI2600MC duo paired with an Askar65phq scope. I currently own the Baader Sky and Moonglow filter for visual astronomy. I got this to be a more aggressive broadband light pollution filter that I could use on all objects as I already had a narrowba
nd filter I liked. I was very impressed after doing same night, 1-hour comparisons of the same object. The overall background was darker with the LQE with no change in object brightness or clarity. I use this for almost all objects now when the moon is not out or is out but close to new. I still prefer a narrowband filter for when the moon is out. But the LQE has done wonders to control my surrounding light pollution. I did look at the L-Pro, but ultimately decided on this one. I have no data to support that decision other than other online reviews. Attached are the andromeda galaxy (3 min subs, 8 hours total) and horsehead nebula (3 minute subs, 1-2 hours total). Other reviews praised this filter and I see why. It exceeded my expectations.
