Taking the original design of the ZWO M42 filter drawer and taking it up a notch, ZWO introduces this second generation model! In comparison to the original filter drawer, this new and improved version includes heightened protection against light leaks, something critical during long exposure astrophotography. This is achieved through a lock screw that holds the drawer and the filter holder tightly together to eliminate any gaps that may introduce stray light. Also aboard are stronger magnets for improved stability.

The ZWO Gen 2 Filter Drawer securely holds your favorite 2” filters, and seamlessly integrates into your imaging train with its M48 telescope-side threads and M42 camera-side threads. Also included is a M48-M42 adapter for use with a wide range of equipment. With its versatile design and robust construction, this ZWO M42 Filter Drawer is a must have within your astronomy toolkit!

Please note: This new version of the ZWO M42 2″ filter drawer is NOT compatible with the first-generation ZWO spare filter holder.

A Secure Fit
By reinforcing the magnets within the filter drawer, you can rest assured knowing your filter will remain securely in place within its housing. These stronger anchor points prevent accidental decoupling throughout your night of imaging while still offering the ability to quickly and effortlessly swap filters when desired. Also, the locking screw adds another layer of security within your imaging train, ensuring your filter stays put during slewing and tracking. The Nuts and Bolts
When threaded within your imaging train, ZWO has designed this filter drawer to be 21 mm in width, a convenient thickness for finding the correct backspacing distance for your telescope. On the telescope side of this filter drawer, you’ll find M48 x 0.75 female threads, and on the camera side, M42 x 0.75 threads reside. If you have equipment you’d like to attach on either side that doesn’t meet these requirements, simply install the included M48-M42 adapter! The filter holder itself features M48 x 0.75 female threads to secure your 2” filters in place.
