While the world of Micro 4/3 cameras has a plethora of premium lenses to choose from, adapting these great glass options to the realm of astrophotography has required permanent photography camera modifications. With the ZWO T2 to M43 Lens Adapter for Select ASI Cameras however, you can now bring this ecosystem of lenses to dedicated astronomy cameras! Whether you’re looking to create sweeping astro vistas with a wide-field lens or hone in deep sky objects with a telephoto, this adapter can make your dreams a reality when combined with a compatible camera. Converting M43 to T2 thread while adding just 12.7 mm of space, this adapter can be used with dedicated astronomy cameras featuring a T2 external connection and a maximum native backfocus of 6.5 mm. This includes Micro 4/3 sensor or smaller uncooled planetary cameras such as ZWO’s ASI585MC, and excellent cooled models like the ZWO ASI533MC Pro. While this excludes some ZWO’s larger offering like the ASI2600 series and their Mini camera line-up, there are still many premium camera models that are sure to impress!

Easy Adaptation

While the shorter backfocus distance of mirrorless cameras like the Micro 4/3 camera mount can make adapting the power optical options from these systems challenging, ZWO has engineered a way to allow you to connect a number of their popular astro camera to this versatile lens mount! In order to make a Micro 4/3 dedicated astro camera setup work with this adapter you will need a camera that has a native backfocus of 6.5 mm, features a T2 external threaded attachment point, and has a sensor compatible with the Micro 4/3 image circle (22.5 mm) or smaller. Certain Pro (cooled) ZWO cameras and Mini form factor cameras are not supported. You will need a camera that matches the designs shown in the below diagrams . Please refer to your camera’s mechanical drawings to ensure it will work with this adapter.

While these requirements may seem constricting, ZWO’s astronomy camera line-up has a wide variety of cameras which synergize perfectly with the T2 to M43 Adapter for Select ASI Cameras! A non-exhaustive list of compatible cameras includes: ASI533MC/MM Pro models, ASI585MC Pro and non-Pro models, ASI294MC/MM Pro and non-Pro models, ASI183MC/MM Pro and non-Pro models, ASI174MM, ASI482MC, and ASI432MM. That’s a lot of options! Converting these compatible cameras is as simple as removing the pre-installed 11 mm front spacer, threading in your camera, and then attaching your Micro 4/3 lens to the front M43 mount!

Please Note: This adapter does not have a mechanism to adjust aperture. Your Micro 4/3 lens will either need manual aperture control, or you will need a way to set the aperture in advance in order to set the focal ratio to something other than the default. Additionally this does not feature a way to communicate with camera focus motors, so your lens additionally will need to be able to focus manually. While you may be able to adapt cameras with sensors larger than Micro 4/3, please keep in mind that Micro 4/3 lenses are not designed to cover or correct for a larger image circles.

Technical Features
On one side of the adapter, there is a T2 (M42) thread, and the other side has an M43 thread. The adapter is machined and black anodized to blend seamlessly with the imaging train.
