This is my first goto mount (I’m coming from a skyguider Pro).
Pros: Light weight. The mount is 10 lbs and can handle 26 lbs. iPolar works very well. It can get confused if you’re far away from the pole. If you sight Polaris by eye over the mount, polar alignment is a snap. The mount comes with all necessary cables and AC adapter. You do
n’t need an RS232 adapter for computer control because the hand controller connects to a PC with a standard A-B USB cable (also included). Integrated wifi is also handled by the hand controller.
Cons: The azimuth locking bolts (which also hold the mount to the tripod) can be a real pain. Fumbling in the dark with these bolts can be frustrating. Also, there is limited azimuth adjustment, so you need to be close to the pole with the bolts centered when you set up.
Conclusion: In general, I’m happy with my purchase. The mount works great with ASCOM drivers (I use PHD2 and APT) and guiding has been under 1 arc second. The standard 1.5″ tripod is sturdy and more than sufficient for light loads under 10 lbs.
