For those looking to replace the stock focuser from their Apertura CarbonStar 6″ or 8″ RC with a Rack & Pinion solution, Apertura has released this optional upgrade! The upgraded R&P focuser features a motion system guided by a linear rail bearing, offering smoother and more precise focusing. Pre-adjusted for optimal tension at the factory provides vibration-free performance. This also features an M56 threaded connection with a pre-installed silver thread protector, allowing you to use this focuser with the threaded adapters that come with the stock focuser. The upgraded focuser from Apertura is designed for seamless integration with motorized EAFs right out of the box! Installation is simple threading the focuser directly to the back of the OTA. This upgraded focuser is specifically designed for the Apertura 6″ and 8″ Ritchey-Chretien telescopes and easily replaces the factory Crayford focuser with just two fasteners and the included hex key. This makes attaching your EAF quick and hassle-free, so you can get out under the stars faster!
EAF and CarbonStar RC Compatible
Apertura has designed this focuser to be fully compatible with motorized EAFs directly out of the box! Installation of an electronic focuser is straight forward, with clear step by step instructions included (see attached digital manual for more details). This upgraded focuser is specifically designed for the Apertura CarbonStar 6″ and 8″ Ritchey-Chretien Imaging telescopes. This upgrade easily replaces the factory Crayford focuser by simply unthreading the Crayford model and threading on the new R&P upgrade. Rack and Pinion Design
While factory linear rail Crayford focusers offer very smooth operation, they require careful user adjustment. While Crayford focusers are excellent for visual astronomy, they can struggle with properly adjusting the tension of the drive shaft. Many users prefer the mechanics of a Rack & Pinion focuser for more precise and reliable tension control. Rack & Pinion focusers provide precision and stability, thanks to their durable construction and consistent performance. I purchased this to replace the stock Crayford focuser on my GSO 6” RC. The stock Crayford focuser was grossly out of alignment with the OTA center line and had wobble in it when extended or attempting to lock it. It did not permit repeatable collimation. The Apetura Rack and Pinion focuser was well aligned with the OTA and rock solid when extende
d. There was no wobble induced by weight of camera or focus lock. It facilitated repeatable collimation points. This is a very high quality focuser at a very economical price.
