Askar 0.8x Reducer for 120APO Triplet Refractor
This 0.8x reducer from Askar will reduce the focal ratio of the Askar 120APO from f/7 down to f/5.6. A shorter focal ratio allows the optical tube to have a wider field of view with faster exposure times. This makes the system capable of capturing larger areas of nebulae and star clusters, as well as faint, fast-moving celestial objects. This standard reducer also serves as a field flattener.
Adopting a triplet optical design, this 0.8x reducer supports a 44 mm, full-frame image circle. The overall weight is just under two pounds. The back focus from the M48 thread is a standard 55 mm. The front thread is M84x1. At the camera end, this reducer has M54x0.75 and M48x0.75 adapters. At the same time, it has an internal M48x0.75 2-inch filter thread to accept 2-inch filters for astrophotography. The CNC machined metal dust caps at each end of the reducer prevent dust and protect the optics when not in use.
Installation: Step One
Installation of the 0.8x reducer on the Askar 120APO is a simple, two-step process. Begin by unscrewing the 2″ and 1.25″ adapters on the 120APO.
