with the Apertura 90 mm Apochromatic Triplet Refractor!
This 90 mm apochromatic refractor from Apertura is perfect for both astronomical observation and photography. The secret is in its crisp and powerful optics! The most powerful and luxurious of Apertura’s apochromatic refractors comes with plenty of high-quality features and components. The 2.5″ rack-and-pinion focuser is large, dual-speed, rotatable, has precision 10:1 fine tuning, and is optimized for astrophotography. The included adapters (2.5″ to 2″ and 2″ to 1.25″) gives this 90 mm apochromatic refractor the flexibility to use eyepieces or diagonals of either size. The included 1x field flattener, designed around full-frame camera sensors, can also hold a 2″ filter (sold separately). Explore below for further details of the features and components of this excellent astronomical instrument!
Apertura has created a highly detailed user manual for their 90mm Triplet Refractor, and you can download it from the “Product Attachments” tab of this listing.
An Elegant Visual and Photographic Astronomy Solution
Apertura has once again outdone itself by delivering a high-performance visual and photographic solution within a sleek and compact package! Like all Apertura products, this 90mm apochromatic refractor perfectly threads the needle between performance and value. The Apertura 90 mm triplet makes the night sky accessible to all!
Visually, the Apertura 90 mm triplet is sure to please the eye both in styling and attention to detail. The white body and retractable dew shield/lens shade feature Electric Blue accents. In addition, the carrying handle and tube rings are color-matched, while the locking knobs have a clean, machine finish. As well, if you look closely you’ll notice the Apertura “A” logo has been laser cut into the skeletonized tube rings–a great aesthetical flourish!
Unparalleled Triplet Optical Design
Featuring a three-element optical design, the objective is fully multi-coated and made of FPL-53 apochromatic glass, providing exceptional color correction. Compared to a doublet refractor, the additional lens of this 90 mm refractor provides even sharper, higher-contrast images and even better color correction both visually and photographically. Internally, the three air-spaced lenses are housed in a knife-edge baffled tube which further prevents stray light. Keeping with this theme, you will also find knife-edge baffles in the draw tube and focuser.
The included 1x field flattener keeps this 90 mm APO at its native f/6 focal ratio and utilizes the industry-standard 55 mm of back focus. The flattener features M48 male threads on the camera side and supports a corrected image circle of 44 mm, which generously covers full-frame sensors. As illustrated in the above photo on the right, this flattener can also accept 2″ filters (sold separately). The flattener can be easily installed and removed with the help of the included allen key (also pictured above).
360° Rotator
A built-in rotator attached to the focuser allows for the adjustment of any accessory, whether visual or photographic. With a camera or diagonal attached, simply loosen the thumb screw and rotate to the desired orientation. This is incredibly helpful when framing multiple targets throughout an evening of imaging or when adjusting for more comfortable angles for visual observation.
Large, Dual-Speed, Precision 2.5″ Focuser
This 90 mm triplet features a large, 2.5″ rack-and-pinion focuser able to handle some of the heaviest astrophotography equipment and accommodates 2″ or 1.25″ visual accessories (with the included adapters, see below). The focuser features 10:1 reduction for fine-tuned focusing. Attached to the focuser is a finder base for mounting a small finder scope or guide scope (sold separately). In addition, this focuser features internal, knife-edge baffles for enhanced optical performance.
Manufactured with Precision and Designed with Attention to Detail
The Apertura 90 mm triplet boasts a high-performance optical system beneath its elegant facade. In support of its rugged functionality, Apertura’s 90 mm apochromatic refractor comes with many useful accessories. In addition to those already mentioned above, this includes a 7″ Apertura D-style dovetail bar, heavy-duty adapters to use 2″ and 1.25″ accessories, and Electric Blue tube rings with vibrant, brushed metal knobs. These complement the Electric Blue accents of the focuser, dew shield/lens shade, and color-matched, slotted carrying handle. Finally, an aluminum, padded hard case is included for safe storage of your new premium, 90 mm refractor.
