Askar 151 PHQ Quadruplet Air-spaced APO Refractor
The Askar 151PHQ features a flatfield astrograph newly launched after 130PHQ
and one of the biggest refractors Askar has to offer! This quadruplet
air-spaced APO refractor simplifies your set up Instead of needing extra
flatteners, calculating the back focus of the flattener, or making a tedious
connection to match the distance, astrophotographers can attach any possible
imaging devices and make your targets stay in focus. This capability makes the
whole optical system perfect for imaging.
The 151PHQ refractor from Askar has a focal ratio of f/7 and a focal length of
1057mm. With an aperture of 151mm, this OTA is the largest of the Askar
PHQ refractors so far. The quadruplet lens is designed with two ED glasses,
offering excellent chromatic and other aberration control. With the
self-flattening design, the 151PHQ offers strong advantages in astronomical
imaging. The 151PHQ APO refractor supports a medium frame, 60mm image circle.
It also has a fine spot diagram with tiny distortion of the peripheral stars,
and its central RMS radius is less than 2 microns.
A Versatile Refractor Perfect for Astrophotography and Viewing!
The 151PHQ refractor from Askar includes many accessories that make it
incredibly well-suited for both observation and astrophotography. It also
comes with two modes, depending on the accessories attached, that will suit
which type of set up you would like. Learn more about the accessories and
technical details of both the observing and imaging modes by reading below.
Astrograph Optics
The Askar 151PHQ Quadruplet
Refracting Astrograph features a premium optical design dedicated to
providing big performance in an accessible way! Its 4 element optical layout
provides a backfocus-fuss-free, ensuring that as long as you can get your
camera to reach focus you’ll be receiving the best corrected and sharpest
views this scope has to offer. With 2 ED elements in this quadruplet design
those views are excellently corrected for chromatic aberration. These clear,
dynamic, and detailed views are spread over an incredible 60 mm image
circle, ensuring you can use up medium-format sized equipment with this
impressive scope. At 151 mm of aperture and with an f/7 focal ratio, this
telescope gives you 1057 mm of focal length reach bringing you up close and
personal with targets like Pleiades, the Moon, the Lagoon Nebula, and much
more!
Two Modes
The Askar 151PHQ comes with two modes: imaging mode and observing mode. When
in imaging mode, the maximum accessory connection with the focuser fully
retreated is 78 mm from the base of the M48x0.75 male thread. The length in
this mode is 976.8mm with the dew shield contracted and 1,164.3mm with the
dew shield extended fully. When in observing mode, the maximum accessory
connection with the focuser fully retreated is 119mm from the end of the
1.25″ eyepiece holder. The length in observing mode is 930.3mm with the dew
shield contracted and 1,117.8mm with the dew shield extended.
3.4″ Rack and Pinion Focuser
Considering the 151pHQ’s
optics capable of supporting up to the massive medium-format class, it
should come as no surprise that this scope features a similarly stout
focuser! At 3.4″, the Askar 151PHQ Quadruplet Refracting Astrograph’s
focuser is suited for some of the largest equipment on the market today; and
with M68, M54, and M48 adapters included, you can attach most gear big and
small right out-of-the-box! To ensure you can smoothly and precisely focus
this equipment the 151PHQ has a rock-steady rack and pinion design coupled
to a dual speed focusing mechanism. This focuser is also ready for modern
imaging accessories, with bracket-style electronic focuser attachment points
to make mounting popular automated options like the
ZWO Standard Electronic Automatic Focuser!
Recommended: Askar 0.7x Universal Reducer for 151PHQ (sold
separately)
The
full-frame reducer from Askar
(sold separately) is specially designed to for the larger PHQ series scopes,
allowing you to increase the 151PHQ’s speed while maintaining a high level
of performance! With a 0.7x reduction factor, this reducer allows you to
increase the 151PHQ’s focal ratio from an f/7 to an f/4.9 for a much
brighter image that make collecting signal a faster proposition. This
reducer will also expand your FOV with this scope out to 739 mm, allowing
you to capture wider perspectives of existing targets, as well as add some
larger ones to this scope’s repertoire. While this will shrink your
available image circle to one best suited for APS-C and reintroduce
backfocus (though this is the industry standard 55 mm), if maximizing the
speed of this large refractor is what you’re after then it is hard to beat
this solution!
Included Items
The 151PHQ comes with a telescopic lens hood, a high-quality CNC machined
and painted tube, and an aesthetically pleasing design. The 3.4″ Rack &
Pinion focuser comes with a 2″ and 1.25″ adapter, M68/M54/M48 photographic
adapters, a 360° rotator, and a finder base. The included handle is
multifunctional and comes with a central slot for attaching an M6 screw with
an M6 screw hole. To complete the package, Askar has included a standard
300mm Losmandy dovetail plate and a sturdy double tube ring, making this
telescope perfectly suited for both viewing and shooting.
