Rob P. Verified Buyer –
First off, I’ve only been shooting astrophotography for less than 3 months, but I do have 30+ years of photography and imaging experience… so I have a head-start on some of this, but I’m still pretty much an Astro-noob… so take that into account for my review.
I’ve only had this telescope for a few weeks with mostly cloudy nights, but I h
ave managed to shoot enough to be thoroughly impressed by it. I’m shooting with basically an all ZWO setup. AM5 mount, ASIAIR, ZWO EAF/EFW, camera is an ASI2600 MC Duo, but I’m using a separate 1220MM for guiding. Attached are a few samples from my Bortle 5 back yard in my neighborhood.
Aside, from my setup, I can say the scope is made extremely well. It’s very solid, but still manageable to move and setup. All the adjustment knobs feel precise with no slop and just the right amount of tension.
Optically speaking, I’m getting continuous sharp, aberration-free frames and round stars throughout. The ease of not worrying about an exact back focus point is also a very nice feature for quick and easy setup. The 750mm focal length is really nice for the types of objects I want to shoot. I’m using an EAF, but the focus wheel also seems to be made very well and operates easily and smoothly. The 360 degree rotator with printed scale comes in super handy as well. It’s very easy to reorient the camera rotation for multiple objects and then come back another night to shoot additional subs with the same framing.
So, overall… I honestly couldn’t be happier with the FF107 and the results I’m getting. I feel like I made a great choice.
