90 mm Optics
Focusing your eyepiece or camera on the
Sun is a set of 90 mm, f/8.9, achromatic optics. This fully multi-coated set
of glass gives you an 800 mm view into the skies above, clearly resolving
the center of our solar system in a more expansive view or an up and close
and personal one with just the included 1.25″ visual accessories. This
optical design and focal length are the perfect pair for giving you an
adaptable and sharp solar optic!

Powerful Filtering, Wide Adjustability
Revealing the
Ha solar details requires a very precise and specialized filter known as an
etalon. The Coronado 90 mm SolarMax III Solar Telescope has externally
mounted this etalon; which increases the size of the filter needed, but is a
trade off Coronado states comes with an increase in performance as well!
Rejecting all but a <0.7Å window around the Ha wavelength, this
external etalon will give you sharp and contrast-rich views of the Sun’s
incredible filaments, granules, plages, active regions, prominences, and
more. This filter features two tuning adjustments to counter Doppler Shift
and refine your focus on Ha details, a TMax tilting tuner alongside
Coronado’s patented RichView tuning system. The latter gives you a wide
range of adjustment, ensuring that you can precisely hone in on the region
or feature that has caught your eye!

Full Disc Capable Blocking Filter
To ensure full disc
imaging and viewing is possible with this 800 mm scope, Coronado has paired
this 90 mm SolarMax III Solar Telescope with a 15 mm blocking filter! This
is capable of passing the entire Sun through to a number of eyepieces and
camera sensors, with extra room that can additionally capture some edge
details such as prominences. The blocking filter has been housed in the
included diagonal, which features an 1.25″ and M42 threads to easily
accommodate visual and astrophotography equipment alike!

Please Note: The blocking filter is required for safe Ha solar
viewing.
Do not use this telescope for Ha solar viewing without the blocking
filter installed.

Solid Dual-Speed Focuser
The Coronado 90 mm SolarMax
III Solar Telescope comes equipped with a sturdy 2″ focuser for honing in
your view of the Sun. Featuring a rack and pinion mechanism, this can
comfortably carry the blocking filter assembly and your favorite visual/
imaging gear. Dialing this equipment in is a breeze, with a coarse
adjustment knob that will quickly get you in rough focus and dual focus knob
that will allow you to make precise fine focus adjustments!

1.25 Inch Accessories
This telescope comes bundled
with a set of eyepieces to ensure you can start enjoying stellar solar views
right out of the box! Included are 12 mm, 18 mm, and 25 mm 1.25″ eyepieces
with a 52° apparent FOV, along with a 2X Barlow. This set provides a
range of magnification from 32x to 133x, giving you everything from a wide,
full disc, view to an eyepiece filling close-up view! These eyepieces are
from the Coronado CEMAX line, which has been designed specifically for solar
viewing, ensuring you’ll be treated to crisp views from day one.

Sol Ranger Solar Finder
Don’t forget about your
finder! When it comes to training your telescope’s view on the Sun, due to
the lack of alignment processes and tools available during the day, a finder
scope is an even more invaluable tool than it is for night astronomy.
However, just like your main optics, your finder needs to be tailored to the
intense energy of the Sun, and this is where Coronado’s Sol Ranger comes in!
Included with your 90 mm SolarMax III Solar Telescope, this solar finder
makes finding the Sun quick and safe. Simply point your telescope in the
general direction of the Sun and then make adjustments until you see it
illuminating the rear screen of the Sol Ranger. Then, you’ll be ready to
begin your solar observing session!

What’s In The Box?
In addition to your 90 mm SolarMax
III Solar Telescope, the Sol Ranger, and its 1.25″ visual accessories, this
includes some additional equipment to help get you started. For mounting the
scope, this package provides a set of scope rings which feature a V-style
dovetail compatible with a wide range of mounts on the market today. Also
included are large knobs to easily install and remove your telescope. To
keep your delicate solar instrument safe when not in use, Coronado has also
included a hard case to protect against bumps in transit or storage!
